Painting is Happening
The work is going well on the Apple Tree Charity Shop and Community Cafe. New electrics are in place, the boiler is fitted and working nicely and we are enjoying the wonderful new paint job which is almost finished. We'll soon be revealing our apple inspired accent colour and getting ready to install our counter.
The Apple Tree is growing
The Apple Tree community Cafe and Charity Shop is growing nicely. We have rediscovered our original floorboards, taken out the step and we're well on our way to getting a new boiler and accessible ramps. We'll soon be tasting foods for our new menus and planning our daily groups meeting in the cafe. Email us to get involved and join our mailing list.
We want to make sure everyone is welcome at the Apple Tree. That's why we have removed the step and lowered the door way. Everyone is equal, that's why we will all come into the community cafe and charity shop the same way whether we are walking or wheeling, striding or shuffling.
Our team are looking forward to opening this door really soon.
The Apple pip is coming
the charity shop
The Apple Tree will host a charity shop to help Goldsmiths Community Centre provide for the local area. Young parents in need will be offered baby items through the shop and volunteers will learn retail and sales skills. Plus an affordable charity shop on your doorstep is just the place to find that vintage tea set you've been after, shorts for your holiday and toys for the kids all in one place.
A community cafe at The Apple Tree will serve tasty food and hot drinks. Imagine a hot cuppa while you wait for the little ones to finish their dance class. Or a much needed healthy snack after Zumba.
Volunteers are being trained in customer service and food hygiene skills, gaining valuable experience while giving something back to the community.
We want to make sure The Apple Tree is a space where older people in the community feel welcomed and at ease. We'll be Dementia-Friendly and we'll run reminiscence and gardening activities for local residents to swap skills, get involved and socialise.
