Our Community
Community is not a physical thing; it is something we all hold in our hearts.
Community is first and foremost a feeling - a sense of acceptance and belonging, feeling welcome and included.
It is knowing that if someone needs help, support or a listening ear or an audience,
the people who feel part of that community and are willing, provide what is needed.
The centre is just that, the place that facilitates and makes welcome.
We all add to it, and benefit from what we put into it.

Sing a Book CIC
|
Sing a Book ended their summer programme on a high with an awards ceremony to acknowledge all the children and young people's achievement and commitment to the project, plus a thank you to all the parents, coaches and crew members.
|
The musical production featured Dido Elizabeth Belle to raise awareness that there were wealthy aristocrats of African heritage living in England during the 18th Century, as told in the 2013 film called Belle, and the young cast members ended their camp on a high by performing three live shows to a paying audience members from our local community, teachers, press AND Barbara Gray, Mayoress of Lewisham!

Peace of Cake
"In times of darkness we feel it is our duty to spread as much light and love as we can. Peace of cake is about finding things in common when the world is forcing us apart. Please help us spread the peace all across the world. We need it now more than ever. Please share this video and have a Peace of Cake event in your area. We all stand in solidarity for a better tomorrow for our children."
-Asma Meer, Peace of Cake organiser-
Goldsmiths Community Centre is proud of our long association with Peace of Cake, supporting communities to come together and celebrate what we have in common.
